New Member - '69 Sprite Mark IV

Hello all!

I recently purchased a 1969 Austin Healey Sprite Mark IV. I had seen it for sale for quite some time whenever I went to visit my parents. One day, I said "If that car is still there, I'm going to stop and find out about it"....and, as they say, the rest is history!

I have always enjoyed driving, but the Sprite is the most fun I've ever had behind the wheel. It's a street legal go cart!

Note the Frogeye and the AH100 in the background. The Frogeye is a '59 and with its restoration complete, the '69 became expendable to the owner, so he put it up for sale. The 100 is a '57 and is probably the most beautiful car I've ever seen, period.
 
As a young boy in the early 1970s, I had a neighbor that lived across the street from us who had quite the eclectic combination of cars: a Jaguar Mark II, MGB-GT and a Toyota Crown Wagon. This was quite different than the Dodges, Buicks, Chevrolets, Fords and Pontiacs (and others) that were in everyone else's driveways. They've always fascinated me since then.

What made me "take the plunge" was a bit more complex: About two years ago, my wife was involved in an accident with our Corolla (not her fault, someone spun into her). While the car was being repaired, the rental company only had two cars in their lot: a minivan and a Mitsubishi Eclipse convertible. Guess which one I picked? Not only did I enjoy the convertible, but our daughter, who is autistic, absolutely LOVED it. Since then, I've been looking for a convertible. Miatas were nice, but very antiseptic. Land barge American convertibles have become too pricey and my wife was loathe to give up her coveted spot in our one car garage.

Enter the Sprite: The Sprite is small enough that it can fit nose-to-tail with my wife's Corolla in our garage, the purchase price was very reasonable for a car of this vintage and in its condition, and it has incredible amounts of personality. So far, both my daughter and I are loving it!
