Just a quick Note to say Hi! Have had a 1962 TR3A since 1970 when I purchased it in Long Beach CA. Was in Navy at the time and drove all over Ca at the time. After 4 yrs got out and drove it across country to Maryland in 54hrs. A trip to remember. Have since done a frame off and it remains a good driver to occasional shows and weekend travels. Still has less than 70K original miles. Have recently had ignition issue. but have new key switch and will resolve this spring. Otherwise, my wife and I do love the car but don't get it out as much as we used to. As one indicates with anything with the Prince of Darkness electrics, currently it is in need of a service to make sure all elements are road worthy.

Best to all.

Rick

Hi Rick, welcome to the asylum!

Coast to coast in a TR3A, in 3 days! Not sure I could handle that much seat time even "back when", sure couldn't do it now. Not and still be able to walk when I got there! Longest I ever did was a bit over 1000 miles in 21 hours.

My opinion, Lucas gets a bad rap. Their stuff in the 50s and early 60s was actually pretty decent, compared to the junk they started producing later on. Most of the woes I've suffered have been either misunderstandings on my part (hint: don't ever try to turn up the voltage regulator for more charging), or caused by Triumph's failure to provide good ground connections and fuses.
