New iPad - Max out your data plan in 10 minutes!

The ability of the new iPad (which I plan to get) to operate at 4g speeds comes at a price.

Apple's new iPad can Max out your data plan in 10 minutes

When I get one, I don't plan on streaming movies over a 4g network. Most of the time I'll be on my own home wi-fi. If I'm out and about on the AT&T Network and no wi-fi is available, then my usage would be limited to a little surfing and low-data emails (no large attachments).

I think most people stream over wifi anyway, but 4G is great when you need to send large documents or pictures somewhere. Even HSPA+ has faster upstream than my DSL does.

For everything else though, this pretty much covers it (disclaimer: rated PG)

<span style="font-style: italic">"I don't know why I need it, I just do. You win again, Apple."</span> and <span style="font-style: italic">"Easy Apple, we get that it's an amazing pixel ratio and nothing on the market beats it...except for any screen larger than 9-inches. 'Hey want to watch a movie on my iPad? No, I think I'm good with my 72-inch LED, you mad bro?'</span>"

Yeah. Pretty much sums it up. I'm outta here!

Apparently a lot of folks do judging from their stock price!

Not a fan of their products but my portfolio loves their stock.

4g is a wonderfully thing however since switching my phone from 3g to 4g my data use went from less than 1 gig on an average month to 2 gigs during heavy use. Now 5 to 7 gigs is pretty normal and I've pushed 20 more than once. Thankfully I'm not on at&t and have an unlimited plan.

I don't know if it's possible with apple but when I need to use my xoom away from wifi I can blue tooth tether it to the phone. While not as fast as 4g its about the same as a good 3g connection.

(I feel *really* old when I read that ...) :jester:

Stewart, when you moved up to 4G and saw your data use go up, was that because you were actually spending more time using it?

Or did the data use go up because the devices are "sucking up more data" in the same amount of time?

Thanks.
Tom

Yes, I can tether to my iPhone.

Do you mean the comma, comma, comma, and comma debate, or the comma, comma, comma and comma debate?

Which brings us back to the great comma debate.

No! Basil does not allow political talk! No commanists. :nonono:

In other words - useless bandwidth. By the way, have you ordered your iPad yet?
