T-Series New house finally done! Dug TF out of the barn!

After being buried in the barn for 9 long months while the house was being built. I finally dug the TF out of it's hiding place. Probably be another month before it goes back in the shop to start hammering on it again. The tub was set on the chassis for the move, it comes back off. PJ

Temporarily in the garage.

How far along are you with the TF? Is the frame/engine good to go?
 
Drew, the TF running gear, chassis, engine, transmission and rear are all done. New floor boards have been made. The tub will come back off in the shop for stripping and painting. Right door hinges need replacing as sometime in the past the hinges were replaced with aluminum ones. They were cheaper and available years ago. The car was in an accident once and the right door was replaced with a new one, as the hinges. Brass ones, as original, will go back on. Instruments need to be sent out, upholstery redone, etc,etc. Probably won't be ready to drive for another couple of years. PJ
 
Just bungie a milk crate to the frame and off you go.

Good luck on the project. I've still got a huge soft spot for the T-series cars (even if I don't really fit in them). That's going to be good fun once you're done.

Looks like your TF is making good progress. I just finished taking the boby tub on my TF apart to replace the wooden coach work. Hopefully I can get the engine machine work done while doing my carpentry project.

Dave, I don't envy you on replacing the wood, what a pain!! I was fortunate, as the only wood on mine that was bad was the piece in front of the gas tank and the cross over support piece below it. The rest of the wood is in perfect condition. I need to build a roll around tub cradle. How are you supporting yours? PJ
 
This project sure puts the CAR in carpentry...

Aloha Paul,

Here are plains for a "slave chassis" that can be mounted on wheels to move around. It is what I plan to use to rebuild my body tub.

Drew, Not sure how much you know about the T series, but I tell people that the MG TF is a 1954/55 car built with 1920/30s technology. In the 20s and 30s, GM Fisher bodies were constructed the same way, even used nails to hold some of the sheet metal to the frame work as the Brits did building the T series MGs. In other words, they were antique cars even when they were new! :jester: PJ
 
The Brits seemed to work on the "well, it worked fine last year, so let's do it again that way this year" plan...

Every now and then they did something new like the rack-and-pinion/independent front suspension on the TD -- then they used it for 30 years. :smile:
