New here. and saying hello. I have a 67 S3 Elan and I am based in LA. Use the car frequently and drive it in anger on the canyons. Hope to find some other Lotus owners in the area.

Here is the car

Wow!!! That's a great looking car. Lotus should do a remake of it, and not change a thing.

Thanks. Everyone I have met that has had an Elan and sold it, said they regret selling.
I guess I have to keep it for life.

I haven't had one.... yet, but if I do, I'll keep it /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

yeah... me too... if I'm ever lucky enough to gain ownership of a Lotus, I'll be taking it to the grave with me. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Almost forgot, that's a great lookin' Elan! We just had a run through Malibu mountains on Memorial Day with a bunch of Triumphs, Minis (old and new), and MGs. It would have been cool to have had a couple of Loti on the run. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

I go up to Malibu with the car quite a bit (and Angeles Crest Highway). Was up there today as a matter of fact, with some members of the Elise club, ended the drive by going to a great car meet in Calabasas.
I am hoping to find some more get together with some classic cars

Took the car to Crystal Cove yesterday

sweet... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

I live about 2.5 miles from the start of the Angeles Crest Hwy. I've only driven it a couple of times so far mainly because I've only recently gotten my B to a state where I trust it in that type of driving environment. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Well, there is always that risk, but that's what AAA is for (or in my case Hagerty protection)

Problem is, cell phones don't work up there /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

So... That's where the Verizon guy disappeared to - hehehehehehe. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/jester.gif

lol

yeah, yer right about phone signal back there. heh. I've only run a small loop back through there so far (the 2 to Big Tujunga Canyon Rd, and back out to Foothill BLVD). 33 miles'ish round trip to and from my place. It's a fun drive, but a bit short. I'm gonna have to plot myself a longer route some time.

It's fun to go up there in my B, but passing people in the designated areas is a bit of a chore for me especially if I loose my uphill momentum behind slow moving traffic.

Altitude does not help for passing.
You can spend all day up there if you choose.

Best time is during the week when there is no traffic. A friend of mine imported a Suzuki Cappuccino and we went up in the middle of the day on a thursday and we saw maybe three cars, it was a blast.

HAHAH! I remember those cars from my stay in Okinawa! truly tiny little roadster IIRC... I bet that was a lot of fun /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

The Cappu is the practically the same size as the Elan.

I am going to Okinawa for the first time ( My wife is Japanese, so we go every year to Japan) in October

Maybe I got it confused with a different car then? It's been 10 years since I was there last. I recall having a Okinawan friend that got a really tiny roadster that had a 2-cycle engine in it, and it had a hard top that manually stowed in the trunk.

This has a 3 cylinder turbo motor in it (four stroke), 80 hp. It has a partial hard top that folds down into the trunk, weighs 1600lbs. It's pretty neat

ok... then the Elan is smaller than I remember... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Guess I am a little late but beautiful car anyway....that first pic looks amazing!

How the heck did your pal bring a Cappuccino into the USA?
(or should I not ask? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/devilgrin.gif )

I've been keen on those for years, but always figured there was no hope to get one in.
A funny thing is, that little triple is closely related to the engine in the Geo Metro.
