Welcome! (from another "50-ish" fellow).
A good source of Jag info would be our humble leader (Basil). The "jaglovers" web site may also have some good info.
Personally, I'd avoid the "auction" type web sites (eBay, etc.) for car purchase....I think it's easier to be disappointed.
Best bet in my opinion is to seek out your local Brit car club (doesn't have to be A-H or Jag club....generic Brit is good) and talk to some of the owners. Learn about "rusted outriggers" and "straight scuttles" and all the other "secret language". Look at some cars that are *not* for sale first...it'll help you be more objective.
I've noticed pretty good deals on older 4 cylinder cars (100-4). These early drum brake cars (especially with disc wheels), would be my first choice, if I were looking, but the newer 3000 models are probably better for highway cruising. A friend of mine has a 4 seater....I'm not so keen on these, but he loves it. Anyway, picking *which* old Jag sedan or AH roadster is a fun decision!
Bonus point for financial types:
*all* these cars can be excellent long-term investments, if chosen with care.
