Welcome! (from another "50-ish" fellow).

A good source of Jag info would be our humble leader (Basil). The "jaglovers" web site may also have some good info.

Personally, I'd avoid the "auction" type web sites (eBay, etc.) for car purchase....I think it's easier to be disappointed.

Best bet in my opinion is to seek out your local Brit car club (doesn't have to be A-H or Jag club....generic Brit is good) and talk to some of the owners. Learn about "rusted outriggers" and "straight scuttles" and all the other "secret language". Look at some cars that are *not* for sale first...it'll help you be more objective.

I've noticed pretty good deals on older 4 cylinder cars (100-4). These early drum brake cars (especially with disc wheels), would be my first choice, if I were looking, but the newer 3000 models are probably better for highway cruising. A friend of mine has a 4 seater....I'm not so keen on these, but he loves it. Anyway, picking *which* old Jag sedan or AH roadster is a fun decision!

Bonus point for financial types:
*all* these cars can be excellent long-term investments, if chosen with care.

Hi Allan, There is a very active Jag club in your state. Go to the JCNA web site and look up the Wisconsin club and give them a shout. I'm sure you'll find someone who will have answers for your questions.

Just caught the comment comparing Jag sedans to my new friend's Lotus and do you know what? He's right! But I'm still young enough to travel in the crowd that knows that when push comes to shove, size does matter!

Hello everyone! I'm a newbie
savewave.gif

Just wanted to say hi and introduce myself. I'm mid-50ish, a financial consultant and my wife is a physician. Although we have a couple of Teutonic jaggernauts currently, my heart is being pulled back to British. I'm an old (both meanings) British car freak. Over the years I've owned a Morris Minor, a Bugeyed Sprite, two Triumphs, and an XJ6. But my two dream cars have always been the Mark II and the Healey 3000. Unfortunately I've spent most of the last 15 years in the Middle and Far East and away from the pleasures of auto collection. Now that we have settled more or less permanently in Wisconsin I have begun to search for these 2 cars in earnest. My hopes are that reading and questioning you folks will help in that search and in the care of my eventual purchase. Thanks for the opportunity.
Alan
