Hey All, New to this site. Had a 58 MGA that my wife traded in on a swimming pool a few years ago. As revenge I got a 72 911 and lost about $5,000 on it. I now know that Porsches a nothing but a beautiful engine surrounded by rust. Am now back to the British brotherhood with the recend purchase of a rust free (all things are relative)69 MGC GT. Being new to such modern things as disc brakes on a British car,I will be asking lots of stupid questions. Like why the heck are there two servos on this thing? Will disconnecting the rear servo improve brake balance? Looking forward to spending lots of time in the garage now that the temp here in Florida Gator land is down to the lower 90's(garage temp about 160. No problem, makes the fluid flow easier when trying to bleed the hydralic clutch, heater, radio etc.) Any ol' way, glad to join you from rural northern Florida. Cheers.

Welcome! Always glad to see MGCs here, they are rare beasts. Always liked them. You will find the answer to any question you may have on here, so you seem to have come to the right place.

MGGator...with the heavier MGC engine & the understeer with period tires (not a problem with today's tires), both boosters were needed to save your leg....remove one & it gets hard to stop because of the extra pressure you have to put on pedal...keep both connected & make certain they both work!
....oh, welcome! Nice choice for a car!

While I like the 'Bs (I've got a B roadster as well as a C GT) the C's have a special character and with the way Healy prices are going make a viable and unusual alternative, (saw a Healy in the local paper taoday and the guy wants AUD75000.00,about USD48000 for it).

BTW Tony there is nothing wrong with single circuit setups on the C, only North America got dual circuit brakes on the C, as long as the booster(s) (which is not as common as you might think) are in good condition the single circuit system is every bit as good.

Incidentally if your rear brakes/handbrake isn't up to scratch check if the spacers are in place in the rear drums, they are often left out and it makes a heck of a difference to the performance of the drums.

Happy Motoring

Tom
