new guy

Mehheh... rich round-eye.

One Sunday morning, I'd moved back into BAQ, loungin' FIGMO... One of the guys comes in an' says there's a "mamasan" onna next street with a broken-down English car lookin' for some help. She musta been one of the more well-established base workers, as she was old! But she had an MG 1100. Points looked like they had 100K on 'em. You'd have thought I deficated ice cream after a few minutes with her emery board. My laundry was free for the last couple weeks in country /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Welcome, welcome....

Doc, I remember when I commanded a 'special ammo' unit in Germany - with the Belgian Air Force...one day the squadron commander asked me if I'd like to inspect the missile site from the air....thought that would be fun until he turned the F-4 upside down & did a treetop run over the site....

Haha, got your attention I'll bet. That's the way we did runs in the T-28, invert and pull the stick back, down you go.

Scared the you-know-what out of me since he didn't give me any warning! But, I kept my lunch inside me!

Always a good thing to NOT blow chunks into your mask /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Masks, masks, heck we wore scarves and kept the cockpit open mostly, it was hot.

Jack - did those planes have 2 wings - an upper & a lower? hehehehe

Well the O2 systems never worked, we had no Lox up country.

Well, down on the ground, our 'scarves' were OD towels!

Heh, other country T-28s even had the systems removed, and birddogs had none. In fact I never remember useing o2 over there.

You "low-n-slow" guys. sheesh.

Birddogs: "Suck-n-blow"? Jack? Jeff?

"You draw their fire... I'll cover ya." --- right.

BAIT! YIKES!

Haha, standard equipment was a case of gernades in the other seat. In side glass jars.

So THAT'S why you guys always wanted me to fly with "the other guy".... You'd be missin' your usual "passengers"...

Hay, I was not a pilot, I was a logie always assigned to special ops and such for third countries. Preaty much worked on my own all over the place. Sooo. Lots of rides in strange stuff with lots of guys from various countries. Good time was had by all. Even the Thais authorized me to carry a shooter so you can think on that a bit, hehe.
Did learn to fly a chopper a bit. Just enough to scare myself really good. Punched all the rockets at one time. Switchology not to good.
The Keep on Trucken unofficial call sign was known all over. Mostly got a welcome back. Interfaced with the Dist. chiefs, in strange remote places and some warlords even. Carried a lot of gold at times, and folks were glad to see me comming.

Jack, we're gonna have a helluva time: I was "excess baggage" on most of my runs. Just a photog with a yen... and a lotta friends in places I could go to and "play".

I gotta get that bottle of Walker now... just so's it'll be aged all nice an' proper when the time comes. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
