new guy

I was in "Aerospace Audio-Visual Service" (AAVS), young and "ate up"... Just a phase. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

It later became "Combat Camera" but I was gone by then. Lost my sense of humor over some internal politics.

Here's the only 111 I want a ride in...

A picture of it next to a Blackbird wouldn't be much more impressive. Mercedes' coolest car ever... And it has a Wankel engine!

And it has only a single "1", but this'n would be a cool ride too...

just not quite as pretty.

And actually this Mercedes C111 is far prettier than the first one I posted...

I'm still rather fond of this 111:

*GROAN*

<thud> EDIT: Time was, the Elan was referred to as a "Super Spridget" y'know. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/devilgrin.gif

Doc, one of these days I'm going to show up on your doorstep so I can see some of this Lotus stuff. Not this summer but one of these days.

Anytime, Jack! I look forward to it.

I'll try to have it in some semblance of order for ya!

Whew. The one ride I had was in a bird with empty pylons. F-4's were Ubon's birds.

We used T-28s and Goons and Platious Porter variations in my neck of the woods. Good fun. Course this was 1963 the first time around.

I could SWEAR I heard a pair of those big twin radials overhead here one day last week... didn't spot the bird (too many oak trees) but it sure sounded like a Goonie to me.

"FLASHBACK!"

We were still using them there later, Jack. AT-28D's, A-26's, and a variety of other stuff.

Thanks, Jeff... Fer a second there, I thought we were as OLD as Jack. mehheh. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/jester.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/devilgrin.gif

Shoot folks, I was with the Lao, program, and the Cambodian program both from 1963 to 1974 several times.

Lots of stories, lots of stuff that will never get into print except between us old timers. Maybe it's best that way.

Had a Honda 150 frame with a 160 engine in it, came in from Laos in a Goon. Fastest thing in town at the time. Paid $150 for it and it was nice. Kept it in my living room at nite and still they tried to get it from time to time.

Spent many fun days in Cambodia, wife was even there for several weeks. she has stories as well.

Saw Anchor Wat, toured the entire royal palace with a Princess Guide, saw Batinbang. Called in air strikes with a brick, waterskied on the Basack. Really intresting place.
