New Guy with a sprite... Sorta

The more I scratch my head behind the car and look at it, the more I like the close together look as well, plus when I weld them basically together as one I won't have to worry about sagging tips or one being higher than the other. You won't see the mufflers attached to them unless you are really far away since the **** car is slightly bigger than go kart sized and the top of the door is a hand length below my waste

Got a lot done today... First off, I got the Camaro back up and running, long story involving removing engine but it's back and aside from a minor oil leak at the oil pressure sending unit and an exhaust leak I need to fix, it runs great and purs like a kitten. The sprite I got the fuel pump assembly into the tank and I have to say, I'm very impressed with the aeromotive stuff. It installed great and is very well thought out and will provide more than enough fuel for the little car. I also got the intercooler tank figured out, and rather than run the large aluminum tank, I'm going to run a different one that will not kill all of my trunk space like the 1 gallon aluminum one would... More to follow.

Progress has been slowed by working all day, but it pays the bills so I can't really complain to much. Still getting a lot done, I got the metal plate welded into the dash and grinded down and also got the straps that will hold the touch screen welded into the back of the dash. I just need to drill the holes for the screws that screw into the touch screen and it will cinch the straps down tight onto the touch screen and hold it nice and tight. I also just added filler to the dash to cover the old bright indicator hole and to smooth out the welds, etc to make it nice and flush. Should be all done by the weekend. I still need to cover the turn signal holes and weld in a plate for the top of the steering column hole. The previous dash just had a plate screwed over it and looked tacky so I'll butt weld a new one in there and make it look nice. Wiring the car this weekend and may get a lot more done on the console, we'll see. I also need to fabricate an angled piece that ties the dash into the column, but I'll do that later on also.

Not much to report today... spent most of the day working on the Camaro. got the wiring harness mounted in the little car and I'm starting the tedious process of laying out and running wires. Good times and I haven't even gotten to the FAST XFI stuff yet. fun

Wow, that's a bunch of wires! Can't remember, you running EFI and electronic engine management?

But then, I'm used to a Bugeye which has one of the simplest post-war wiring harnesses known.

Yeah, I'm running FAST XFI with the touch screen as most of the gauges minus tach speedo and fuel, which are speedhut supplied. Most of the wires in this harness wont be needed although it's a pain since the block is mounted in the back of the car and the wires I need short are long and the long ones are too short... easy fix as I'll be cutting and soldering anyways, just more work. I'll have to extend the fast xfi harnesses and the touch screen harness but it'll be worth it in the end. Added to the old school sprite wiring besides the fuel injection and gauges are a compact radio, push button start and a lot of other hard to start type things

may I say this whole project is sheer madness - well done!

Having nothing to start with but a few plugs is both a blessing and a curse. Spent the morning figuring out that the top bulb in the rear is turn signal, red wire is parking lights and the other wire is brakes. After not wiring a complete car in a long time it's easy to get frustrated laying wires out and getting after it, especially since I'm taking a break right now having, not paying attention, spliced the left taillight wire into both sides of the car like an idiot... easy fix, just wasn't paying attention. The real issue is I'm far too sober to be wiring.

Got alot done, really it's not too bad because there isn't crap for needed wiring in the car, no power windows, no ac/heat, no power door locks, no dome light, most of the gauges are done with the touch screen, the other 3 are easy day. I may have the wiring all wrapped up tomorrow as far as everything but the front end that is.

Got a lot done, got most of the car wired, except for the fast XFI stuff and finished up the body work on the dash, minus the turn signals and the part where the column comes through the dash. The new speedo has turn signal indicators and bright light indicator in it so I need to finish closing those up. My new gauges from speedhut came and I'm super impressed with how they came out. I can't wait to test them out. Don't mind the runs in the paint on the dash, I just tossed some quick black paint on it to get an idea of how it looked and it ran a little. More to follow here soon hopefully.

I was going to run the engine controllers in the back of the vehicle but I got a wild hair up my butt and checked fitment behind the dash area and they literally fit like they were made to go there!!!! All wires will get hidden behind the dash/console area this way and I don't have to cut or solder a ton on the harness to lengthen it. I was going to hook the harness up to figure out where to fun the hole through the firewall but it's too **** cold out there!!!!

Don't you love it when a plan comes together?

Yeah, also spoke with old phartz parts on the phone yesterday and I'll be ordering my brakes in a day or two, basically payday timeframe.

Not a terrible amount of progress... cold weather and work kinda take the wind out of my sails lately but I'll have 9 days straight off from work here coming up and I plan on getting a ton accomplished!!!!!! New progress is: coils hard mounted under where the console will go, Dash test fit, I'm currently filling in the holes for the turn signals and the gap left by where the column goes. I'm going to finish up all of the body work on it, then the only thing I'll have left to do on the dash will be build the small piece that will connect the bottom of the dash to the console, making it a seemless transition and covering up all of the wires that I now have. I also got the new pieces tack welded to the old seat frames. I need to finish weld them and then get the new screws and I can install the seats. My brother is getting the console welded up for me, adding the aluminum wings to the sides so that It will cover all the wires up. Once that's all done, I'll get the console covered and the tank covered and build the side panels and new door panels... toss some carpet down and the interior will be mostly done. Brakes should be here soon btw.

insane! keep us posted, BTW is that a flux capacitor in the middle picture?

But will it do wheelies??

It probably will... I'll know any day now. Made some drastic changes to get the car back up and running, but I don't think I'll get flamed too hard. I'm just lucky enough to have quite a few powerplants lying around to draw from. If I had a couple parts that are in the mail, I could **** near crank the car... more to follow here in a few days hopefully, I don't want to post up any progress pics till I crank it.

I lied... Heres the updated progress and changes:

I made some drastic changes to get the car ready for the nice weather... Bitch all you want, I kinda like it better this way, way simpler, engine is proven, and all my projects will be on the road a lot faster now that the blown ls6 will go in the vette. If I had a few parts that are in the mail, the car would be out scaring small children already. Console and gas tank will be back from upholstery beginning of next week, everything under the car is in except driveshaft, got the new yoke and it's an inch too short, new one on the way along with new throttle cable and tranny cooler. Other than that and the new speedhut gauges I'm waiting on, it's ready to go. Sounds like a lot but it's really not.

almost forgot, also still waiting on the new front brakes... should be here any day now.
