My new fuel tank kit arrived yesterday. Shiny new metal like a new nickel. Here's the question...how should I finish it? Should I have it powder coated? Should there be some bare metal for the fuel gauge sender to ground and work properly?
 
Fuel sending unit should ground through the screws. If I had a new one I woulld powder coat it buy you may find a rust o lum rattle can is fine. Gloss black.
 
i would powder coat since the tank will see road dirt and debris. just my .02.
 
I dropped the fuel tank off to be powder coated gloss black. Price wasn't too bad, about $70. A bare spot of metal has to be left where the fuel gauge sender drops in. There's no screws to hold it, just the locking mechanism.
 
Ahh, I disremembered then. Thought there was 6 screws. Well there is 6 on a bugeye, hehe.
 
was looking at your website. great job. i am creating my own website with help from my son. i think i might model after yours if that's alright with you!
 
I am surprised that powder coating worked for the tank...when I took mine in to have it powder coated, the guys said that it lokoed like there was some soldering on th tank...and therefore it would not withstand the 400 degree oven they put it in after they spray it...I guess they were wrong...good to know.
