Thought I would take a look under the hood of the new fuel pump and low and behold the plastic screen is warp all out of wack

so I replaced it with a very clean one from the previous pump

question is does anyone think it will be a problem ??

it seems that on inspection that the screen is located above the port to the carbs so what is the point of this screen ??

thanks guys

Tony,

There was a thread here (or 6-Pack) about those some time ago that showed a bunch of twisted plastic screens from different owners. It appears that they do not like the new fuels. Oddly enough, the TRF rebuild kits do not (or did not last year) include new screens.

The point of the screen is that the pump pulls in from the side and then down and over the screen, before going out to the carbs. The pictures that I did on a new rebuild here will show you the path from the inlet, up through the center, then down over the screen and back into the carbs through the outlet.
