Hi everyone. I reviewed the BCF before registering and was impressed with the group and the forum itself, so here I am. I currently consult legally as a Traffic Crash Investigator and Reconstructionist after retiring from the automotive service industry. I owned and operated a large high quality professional repair shop in Lexington KY that is still operating. I sold it in 2009.
I continue to maintain my L1 level Master ASE Technician Certificates and have had at least one British car since I was 16 (I'm almost 60 now)...and I still own that one (although she has gone through some serious rebuilds over the years). "The Little Red Fox" is a '65 Spitfire Mk II (magazine cover car) and my wife of 37 years and I dated in that car. Along with it -- in the Spitfire category -- I have a 62/63 Mk I frame and running gear (Little Blue), another 65 Mk II nearly complete (Rocky), a 69 Mk III complete waiting for body finishing (Junior), a 79 1500 parts car (Freddie) and an 80 1500 that is a daily driver (Tropic Annie) with a little over 30k miles on it. We have about 12,000 sq ft of shop for our cars and for storing other's cars as a service.
I also have a 73 Jensen Interceptor just brought out of our storage area in pretty good shape that we are beginning to get road ready. I'll be looking for help on that one, for sure. No name yet...although with a 440 Chrysler engine, it won't be dainty.
My son Jesse and I occasionally do assist friends with older specialty vehicle repairs since I have the space to store them when we're not working on them. He works with me in recon but in between jobs we'll play with one of the vehicles we have here for those special jobs. Currently those include a nearly completed 59 TR 3, a complete beautiful 73 TR 6 in nearly perfect shape, a 66 kit Cobra supercharged 5.0 and a 64 365 HP convertible Stingray, among others. I have a large quantity of Spitfire spares and lots of experience with the Triumph and other English marques across the board.
Happy to be here, looking forward to learning lots from this forum. I also hope to participate and maybe share some of my years of bleeding British blood, as time allows.
