New Fenders

You know, its funny. I have been looking at those fenders for the past couple of weeks as I need some for my TR250 (the two I have currently are fiberglass). I don't know why they haven't sold. And to be honest with you, that is what has been keeping me from buying them. Just seems strange....

Doesn't sound bad until you get to shipping cost. I have sold several fenders and shipped them for around $60 each. I had to cut a box down to exact size and it will just be under USPS oversize limit. I haven't had much trouble fitting an aftermarket Triumph fender but an Austin Healey is a night mare.

I have a set of new rears that I purchased from a project. They're pretty good, heavy gauge steel and the only fitting I've had to do was the angle of the mounting edge. They are definitely hand made from an initial pressing as evidenced by quite a bit of hand metal work.

The unexpected was that I had to do surface finishing. The red oxide was a bear to remove. There were a lot of surface details to finish; the inside curve of the flares needed frosting to smooth it out. Also the pressed sight lines on the fenders that goes front to back was a shorter on one side than the other. Even the rounded top edge needed frosting to smooth it out perfectly. None of this was major, just little stuff.

Would I pay $1000? No way. But rust-free rear 4A and 250 fenders are rare. I paid $700 for a pair of rears.
