new ebay strategy?

Here's the first couple of bids on an item I'm bidding on right now. Note the times of the first ($100) and second ($101) bids. It looks like the earlier bid didn't register until the second one was input.

This sounds a lot like the OPs issue.
 
An interesting occurrance for sure. One thing to always remember though. You don't actually "win an auction", you simply agree to pay more than anyone else thought it was worth.
