New E-Type Owner Seeking Advice

We bought our XKE in Tulsa and promptly drove it over to OKC. Noticed the air by the front tire was warm as I walked past it - fortunately one can only get one finger through the spokes to see if the brake disc is hot.

It had been maintained, and the engine rebuilt, by the "Best jag shop in Tulsa". Pity that shop did really poor work.

We also love to drive our cars, 2,000 mile trips are not uncommon, one stands out at 3,650 miles in 10 days, including snow-covered passes. I tell folks to prep for a long drive by doing lots of shopping trips, 50 mile drives, 100 mile drives, and FIX EVERYTHING THAT NEEDS ATTENTION. Over the past 46 years, and 140K miles, our car has never left us stranded. Granted I don't let anyone touch our cars - but surely you can find decent mechanics to help you out.

Thanks SNClocks. So far my “new” rig is running well. I’ve put a little over 1000 miles on her (after weld repairing the exhaust downpipe I tore backing into my high curbed driveway). Next projects are new Bell exhaust system (ordered from SNG Barrett) and rear door upholstery (ordered from John Skinner Ltd in the UK).
