Sheesh - I've been lurking without logging in for so long I nearly forgot how to log in!

Finally got a new 'puter spec'd out today. I'm planning on buying it from MaxForce PC. Though I'm in IT I didn't really have any experience with gaming/media systems. A friend recommended them and they were really helpful and seem to be very knowledgeable and have good prices.

LIAN LI PC-A05B
Corsair TX 650W
Intel Core 2 Duo Processor E8500 3.13GHZ
MassCool 8W553B1M3
GIGABYTE GA-EP45-UD3P
OCZ Reaper DDR2-800 4GB (2 x 2GB) CL4
Seagate ST3500320AS 500GB SATA2 7200rpm 32MB
Samsung SH-S223F 22X Dual Layer DVD+/-RW SATA Drive
EVGA nVidia GeForce 260 GTX 896MB
Super Talent INT-AIN1-C All-in-One USB2.0 Internal Card Reader
Avermedia AVerTV MTVPEMCER w/Remote
Microsoft Vista Home Premium 64-bit (64-bit OS Required for 4GB and more RAM)
Logitech MX 5500 Revolution
Logitech Z Cinema 2.1 Speakers
Logitech G25 Controller

No doubt that's probably more detail than anyone is interested in. But if anyone wants to comment or make suggestions I'm all ears. Haven't settled on a monitor yet. I want to try iRacing and use it for TV/Video recording etc so it's fairly beefy.

There was a post back a couple of months ago about iRacing. Has anyone else gone for a spin? How about rFactor - anyone doing that?

All ears!? How can you be, you don't have a sound card! OH, don't tell me your using the integrated sound. I feel faint! :jester:

I saw the specs for GTA4 for the PC. Looks like I'll need some beefier parts for my computer if I want to play that game.

If it were I building a PC for iRacing, then what you have there is more than adequate, although I'd drop Vista and go with XP, but that's my humble.
I'd also get the Momo USB steering wheel for no other reason than it looks cool and the pedals are far enough apart that you're not on both at the same time, when you don't want to be.
I haven't done iRacing yet. Subscription software is not for me.
I'm racing Grid on the xBox 360.

Yeah, that was one of the things I took off the initial wish list to save a little. When I want sound I'll just move the computer down to the garage

I would too, but I guess I'm going to have to give in eventually. Unless they come out with something new and improved before they stop supporting XP.

Did he say "refining our car damage and deformation systems"? Does that mean he's sending his kids to finishing school?
