New carpet comparisons and recomendations??

I bought some cheap carpet for my TR6 about 11 years ago and now I am ready to upgrade. The carpet I have is the synthetic with a medium thick cut pile that is fuzzy (frizzy), every piece of lint and dirt gets caught in it and is hard to vacuum, also the fuzz pulls out. Are any of the upgrade synthetic carpets better than this? Is there a looped carpet available? and any other recommendations, Thanks

Allan:

I'd go for the upgrade into Wilton wool.

PDO Pedro had K-Mart black carpet glued directly
to the metal floors and metal side panels with no
underlayment. What a mess to remove.

I installed an aluminum foil faced, insulation
underlayment and the Wilton wool from TRF.

I am very pleased with the result. Car is quieter
and cooler.... when it is operational, ahem!

Go for the wool, you will not regret it.

regards,

d

Thanks Dale, is it any less fuzzy (frizzy) than what I described with my carpet?----------------Any opinions out there on the magic carpet synthetic??

I have the Roadster Factory's synthetic loop and have found it holds up well. Avoid thegrey due to color fading & worse but the black that is now more than 20 years old still looks pretty good. The loop stuff does not fuzz-up as you describe.

No I didnt know that, thank you. I wonder if TRF still has the looped carpet that GEO mentioned-I do not see that in their descriptions, I guess Ill have to give them a call.

Don't buy the cheap "mixed fiber" jobs often sold on Ebay...just what the heck is "mixed fibre"...

Allan-

No fuzz at all. I am very pleased with the quality
of the wool. Mine is black.

Purchase the aluminum foil clad underlayment. You
will be glad you spent the few extra $$.

Oops -- that was on a TR3A (on which I think loop carpet was original) -- may not be the same for TR6.

FYI,

TRF is sending me carpet samples along with a looped sample, they said that you can have a looped carpet made for the TR6 special order from the Magic Carpet Factory.
