So my daughter is probably heading to Vancouver BC after school is done and the boy joined the Guard a couple of months ago.
Looks like Mazda is going to lose out with us being a customer as the cars release is late August.
Thinking now about a Z4 28i as ,believe it or not, they get the best MPG.
Anyone with any experience with one?

DOH...
All that kid talk is because-
daughter gets wife's car
Son get the car his sister has been driving

My wife has a Z4. I've also had a Miata. If I buy another some day I'd opt for the Miata. The Z4 is expensive to maintain compared to the Miata.

54K is list
I found one for44K

Saw one on the floor 4 years ago with a tag of 67K when I was picking up parts for the endure car. FWIW, I see a lot for sale that the tops don't motor any longer and they have power steering problems (electric motor). IMO the Z is more car than the Miata will ever be but parts are stupid high. Might be safer though; I'd rather be hit in a Z than a Mazda.

I also believe if you get the 4 banger you are wasting your money. If you are going to get a Z, I'd get the 6.

What about just buying something used for now till the new model comes out?

For the first four years or 50,000 miles the BMW is less expensive to maintain than the Mazda (insurance excepted).
But you pay 3 times the price up front. We bought the wife's used for $16k, but no warrenty.

One of my grandsons worked for a BMW dealer for a couple years and said one time, when time for service, you take it to the dealer, tell them to call you when it's done and money is no problem. Deep pockets are helpful. :highly_amused: PJ

Kids are gone, just you and the missus. Money is yours, life is short, and still worrying about cost and MPG? Use the money and play, you've earned the play time. Get it done before the horn blows.

I have a friend with one. He loves it but said don't get one without a warranty and still expensive to own.

Like I said, I've owned the Z4 and the Miata both. When it come time to replace the Z4 it will probably be back to the Miata. Just as much fun to drive, but a lot less $$ to buy maintain.

No agreement with the above comment. I think it's one of the best all around sports/GT cars I've ever owned. The smoothness of the inline 6, the shift of the Getrag transmission (and its ratios), the wonderful sounds, plus the comfort. I love the whole package. Don't get me wrong, I like the Miata. Just like this better.

Test drove the MX5 yesterday, the 15, not the 16.
Not sure I fit very well. My head touches the top and my leg is room is OK with short a light shirt and no shoes.
Not sure if I would fit in the winter.
No reclining of the seat in that car for tall people.
They have moved up the preorder from 6/1 to about 5/11. But it sounds like all the preorder cars are club cars and I think when your number is called you have to take the car offered or you're out of luck.
But this is all a guess as they have not come out with exact specifics

Went to our BMW dealer and spent 75 minutes with an incapable sales person. She was new and it is hard to fault her for that but kind of wasted our time for over half of that as she tried to find a car and eventually led us to a 228i coupe not a Z.
Ran out of time without being able to drive one.
Next available time for us is about 2 weeks from now

I might feel differently if I had a newer version like you have. Our's is an 03 soft top.

Cars 12 years old now Bas, time for a new one or dump much into the repairs

Don, get on CL and go drive a used one even if it is just you.
I think we'll go to the used side and drive a 13

On that note , Mick how close to Knoxville are you. If I remember right ,not to close.
