New Bugeye ignition switch question

Country flag
Offline
So I've removed the switch, and discovered one of the tabs that you connect the wires to is totally disintegrated. I notice that there are originally four posts to connect to. The wires that are loose are to the starter, via the coil. If I touch these to the post that has the wires for the wipers and turn signal, I get power to the starter. Can I connect here, along with the other wires, or is that too much? I hope this makes sense.

Or would it be better to try to solder a new connection where the old one broke off?

That would get my vote, too. But VB no longer stocks them, and will not in the future. Moss is out of them until mid to late October. Need an interim solution.

Are you really sure you mean starter? Is there a separate starter switch / button?

Yes, there is a separate switch to actually start the car. I was wrong about where the wire goes, I haven't traced it. But the car will not start when this wire is not connected, just turns over

There are actually three wires coming into this terminal

How about a temporary switch hanging below the dash till you can get a new one.

Kurt.

Does anybody have a picture of the back of the switch? Either wired or not.

thanks!

That did he trick, it a temporary switch in, and it's working fine:smile:
