After about 300 delays, it looks like the America On Wheels Museum will be opening next month.

Here is the write up from Hemmings Weekly Newsletter:

"Do you remember the Billy Joel song Allentown? It was about all the factories closing down and doom and gloom. Well, in March, the owners of some pretty cool muscle cars will be moving in to the Pennsylvania city in anticipation of a ribbon cutting at the all-new America On Wheels, April 8.

The American muscle car is one of the featured exhibits, and so far, a Hemi ’Cuda, COPO Camaro and 1964 GTO convertible have been located for the exhibit. The rules are that the cars must be legitimate and documented muscle cars, and no recreations are permitted. If the cars are not like they were from the factory, they do not qualify to be in the display.

This is going to be a big deal, and one of the featured guests at the ribbon cutting will be actor Nicolas Cage, a big-time muscle-car collector and, of course, star of the movie, Gone in 60 Seconds.
- By George Mattar"

I hope to become a volunteer to help there, but I cannot get the America On Wheels web site to down load the form so far...

Cool. Not too far from me. Plus I have a vintage-racer buddy that lives in A-town.

By the way, Nicholas Cage's first car was a Triumph Spitfire.

Dave - I just visited the AOW website:

https://www.americaonwheels.org/

Just about all the links on the left side refer to files on somebody's private computer (named Foley?) - so they don't open on the webpage.

Might want to alert someone out in your neck o' the woods.

I just came home from my first training session as a docent for the museum, and even though not all the cars are there for opening on April 12, there were some fantastic items on display: 1976 Citicar, a 1981 Nadig, what appeared to be an EV1, a 1954 Jaguar XK 120, and the current temporary exhibit, from April 12 till September, of 1969 427 COPO Camaro, 1970 440 six pack Roadrunner, 1970 Hemi Cuda, 1969 Roadrunner 440 SixPack, 1966 Corvette 427 Convertible, 1967 Shelby GT500, 1970 AMX 390 4-speed, 1964 GTO tri-power 4-speed convertible, 1970 Chevelle LS6 unrestored but beautiful, 1965 Chevelle Z16, 1967 Mercury Comet 202 (427)sedan, and a 1972 Olds 442 W-30.
There will be a lot more including a racing lawn mower, a rocket barstool, and a 1967 Can Am McLaren. I will have to try to get in a few more times before opening to learn more about these exhibits, and keep you posted if anyone is interested.
