Confused /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif

What does NOS stand for?

New Oil Spill? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/devilgrin.gif

Nice Original Stuff?

Not Often Sold?

or really: New Old Stock- stuff that's new but never been used....

And here I thought that was part of the automatic oil changing system. Never drain, always add.

But surely you take the pan and pour it all back in, recycling with a top-up once in a while???? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/jester.gif

Well i like the look of them so im getting some for my BN7 and BJ7 as they do not leak much. Must be the different air in the UK as from what your all saying your cars seem to leak a lot more over there ?

Perhaps you're right- higher ambient air temperatures -> thinner oil, more seepage?

Do American Healeys mark their territories more in the summer than in the winter? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/devilgrin.gif

You guys got to be kidding me. Any engine put up right will not leak, or transmission or rear end. A leak is indicitive of other problems just waiting due to poor or defered maintance.

Fix the leaks, clean the floor, keep the wife happy.

Do Ursus americanus defecate in the deciduous forests? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/jester.gif

Is one leg longer than the other? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/jester.gif

Would I kid you? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/yesnod.gif

Remember Healey engines were built without any rear seal. Centrifucal force pushes the oil forward and into the sump. Just try parking your Healey on an incline, then look for its markings.

instead of Austin Healey, thses drip trays shoud say "BFC". that way any/all of the members can own one, regardless of marque affiliation. in fact, this could be the official BFC "badge". much more useful than one of those badge-bar units. maybe run it past Basil?

In that order?

Maybe that's why mine still leak! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif

"Saving" the oil under the car also serves to keep the rodents away form the wiring they love to chew on during those long winters. Castrol smells better than those mothballs some use.

Which one?

When you are my age that is the correct order. LOL

/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/nonono.gifShorn, The Healey engine surprising enough has one of the most expensive type rear seals available,it is called a Labrinth seal. The design is actually a small oil pump that functions to return oil to the sump only when the engine is runing. It relies on very close tolerances to minimise leakage, when new, and progessively worsens with wear.---Fwiw--Keoke

Actually, I have found that a very tiny nearly invisible chain extending from the leak tank attaches itself directly to your wallet/mastercard/cash clip immediately upon activating the Lucas Seat Compression Weight Sensor. So when you Assume the Driving Position you actually are online with your leak tank and all your financial resources simultaneously, which is why you can not save money and have a Healey too /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cheers.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cheers.gif

velox,i still cant find the "leak tank" on my car, keoke knows the location but wont tell me,while looking for it i did find the "lucas seat compression weight sensor" i showed it to my wife and she is now completely understanding of our hobby, thanks, /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazyeyes.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/savewave.gif

Hi Velox, I could tell Anthony how to find the leak tank but "Basil" would get me.---Keoke- /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
