Picked up cheap, not perfect by any means, but fun new adventure. Going to pick it up and drive it home 400 miles this weekend. I still love British cars, but it was fun learning about the BMW 2002 I got a couple years ago. I am finding I enjoy tinkering with a neglected driver more than doing a full restoration, which gets to be a little too much like a second job.
 
Is it the turbo one. Great cars and lots of room inside. Some up grades that will give you food for thought.

Not a Turbo, but it is an 81, they did up the specs a little through production, so the later normally aspirated cars had a little more power and five speed standard.
 
Good for you. I tend to stray every once in a while. There was a cheap SLK M/B in town this week I almost went to see. Last night the Caribbee TR4 got my attention but slept on it and decided not to bid on it. Haven't bought anything in afew weeks so I need a fix.

I've always liked the 924,but it always seemed overshadowed by
the 944.
Was told to watch out for overheating problems (plastic radiator),
which will warp the head.Maintenence records are also VERY important.
 
This one is not exactly in the maint. record price range. I did manage to drive it home. It runs a little rough but I have already been working on that and made some progress. It does have one very redeeming quality. First old car I bought with NO RUST. Fully galvanized body, amazingly clean, but still all dinged up on most every panel. I plan to autocross it. Reasonably small, and most importantly a 47/53 frt/rr weight distribution.

As far as overshadowed by the 944, yes, it is an upgrade in specs from the 924 in most every way, but I like the leaner, cleaner look of the 924, and I kind of can't get past the mental block revolving around most everybody who had one in the 80s being a colossal dick.
