Never judge a book by its cover.

There's talent undiscovered all over th' planet. Some get their 15 minutes, most don't. Her fifteen years for fifteen minutes has started.

I'm more inclined to look around my own neighborhood for folks to root for... and support.

I don't play into "Simon Says"... never have.

That's cuz they get pushed out by all the non-talent that get more than their fifteen minutes.

By bein' glib or usery... I've come to expect it.

Is she a Fawlty Towers fan? I found a longer clip of he 1st Semi final performance. Listen to her banter with Simon. At around the 6:57 mark, she says to Simon "I know nothing, I know nothing...I am from Barcelona." Anyone who is a Fawlty Towers fan will recognize that as a line from "The Deaf Lady". Basil has told Manuel not to tell anyone about teh horse Basil bet on. He instructs Manuel that, no matter what, if anyone asks you about the horse "you know nothing." Later Basil needs Manuel to tell the deaf lady that the money Basil has is not hers, but money he won on a horse. But Manuel dutifully complies with Basil's previous instruction and says "I know nothing"...and "I am from Barcelona."

It's something we "local musicians" know all too well. I've heard and had the honor of playing with plenty of folks with more talent than most of what you hear on the radio. Just the way it works.

Support your local musicians! (especially if they have LBCs to pay for...

Precisely why the musical nudge to Doc. in another thread!!
I am forever amazed at how long these "overnight" sensations have actually been around doing their thing before being "discovered"!!

Mike, I think the quote by Randy Bachman of the Guess Who was "15 years to achieve overnight success".

All too often the success never comes.
