So I drove the MGB down to the city for a meeting today, and when I took it out to get some lunch, I heard a loud clicking noise that was speed dependent but not engine speed dependent. My first odd noise!
When I got back to the meeting location I popped the bonnet to see if I could see anything, and once the exhaust cooled I checked it over to make sure it was still solid. When I left the meeting, the noise started up again.
Then I noticed that the speedo had stopped, as had the odometer and trip meter. And the sound stopped as well. So there you have it, noise traced. Speedo was wildly inaccurate anyways (though the odo was okay) so I new it had to be fixed anyways.
So a minor blip in an otherwise nice driving day.
