They've sure made some bone-headed business decisions lately! When they split their streaming from the DVD-by-Mail, they hemmoraged more than 800,000 customers in the blink of an eye! Took about a week for them to reverse course and email an apology, but the damage was done. Gonna take a long time for them to recover from that bone-headed stunt!

I ABSOLUTLEY HATE their stupid commercials on the radio -
"If 6 is 5,& 4 is 8,then what is 23?" - STUPID!!!
I will never deal with them because of that.

Anyone else having trouble logging in to NetSux; I mean, NetFlix?

Hmmm - anyone else having trouble logging in to BCF?

Around 7am EST all I got was:

<span style="font-style: italic">Internal Server Error

The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

Please contact the server administrator, webmaster@britishcarforum.com and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

More information about this error may be available in the server error log.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

Apache/2.0.63 (Unix) mod_ssl/2.0.63 OpenSSL/0.9.7a mod_auth_passthrough/2.1 mod_bwlimited/1.4 FrontPage/5.0.2.2635 Server at www.britishcarforum.com Port 80

Power outage at the server location?

First time I've seen that. Looks like a Bandwidth issue, which is hard to believe. I'll take a look at the BW graphs and see if maybe I was hit with a DOS attack (I do ban a lot of IPs from China weekly).

I slapped my netflix account on HOLD- plan to keep it there for a while. Netflix used to be pretty good, but lately they have lost access to A LOT of their streaming content. That coupled with the fact that every (9 out of 10) movies i look for are only available on DVD and not on streaming, has pretty much put the light out for me as far as they go. I have been trying out an Amazon prime subscription. I would really like a Fire- but think i will wait for the second generation to be released.

I hear ya Mark. The selections on NetFlix are really pathetic these days. The problem is, Starz did not renew their contract with NetFlix, which expired in Feb 2011, feeling that more people would subscribe to NetFlix than subscribe to the Starz Channel. That meant a ton of content was lost to the NetFlix streaming library. The only reason I have NetFlix now is for my Son. There are some movies he likes on there. I stopped my DVD account and instead have been using RedBox.

I looked at my BW graphs and saw no indication of any problems. I'll have my server management folks look at it and see what if anything they can determine.

Basil - thanks for checking. Would be interesting to know if your server folks had reports on other sites they host.

All - I used NetFlix streaming a few times; kept getting picture freezes and/or blocky video, I assume due to bandwidth limits. I've got 10mbps internet (Charter, $55/mo!, only ISP available), but I figure others in my area using streaming video (or other high bit content files) at the same time can actually slow the whole neighborhood down.

Dropped the NetFlix streaming last year, and now just use the DVD by mail service. I've never yet searched for a film I'm interested in, and not found it on NetFlix.

I just searched RedBox for ten classics, and got "not found" on every one. Maybe they're only for recent films?

Also not sure I want to have to drive to a box location; closest one is 10 miles away. As streaming seems disappointing in my neck of the woods, I think the mail DVD service works fine.

Does anyone else use RedBox? Has anyone else had any streaming movie problems?

Tom

RedBox I think is only newer releases. you won't find classics there too much I don't think.
