Nekkid as a jaybird

Doc - its from yesteryear...its the only place on the body I was really worried about

...After I get a car sandblasted, I put it on the trailer & take a high speed run down the interstate & then back home...gets rid of all the sand...then, its immediately metal prepped & primered!

I thought sandblaster shops sprayed a temporary metal sealer onto the car before shipping it back out? If not, they should...

Most don't

The high speed trailer ride is a great idea! I HATE chasing sand with a shop vac... shop vac doesn't like it much either.

Absolutely, and here in Scotland we'd almost be guaranteed to also get a free car wash with 100% natural, soft rain water.... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Friend on mine, Ben Pender, decided to use my technique - except he forgot to check the weather....had to have his GT re-blasted to gat all the water spots off!

Using a metal prep like Jasco after blasting will extend the time to get primer on there a bit...but not for more than a couple days....and only if the humidity isn't too great.

Using a metal prep is good practice anyway.

[edit]

actually 3 or 4 days depending on humidity- this is the time of year for low humidity

They spent yesterday cleaning out the sand, cutting out a couple small areas. He left here at 6:30 this morning to head back to the shop. I forget what they're doing today (was still sick in bed when he left) Something and the primer. I'll tell ya later when he comes back home and has more pictures.

Yes the blaster treated the nekkid metal with some sort of sealer.

Yes the bondo is from yesteryear.

And at 8am this morning, the blaster called and said he owed us some money. His 'guy' charged us the normal full price ($870) for the job, didn't know we were a "John referral" - so we have a few hundred coming back on that!

Color. Must pick color. Must pick color. Must pick color.

Darn, looks like silver to me. Gesh.

Jaynil, did I spell that right. I think it is time you started on an on line place for all your restoration photos so we can check up on you.

I'll add them all to an album somewhere - sometime today. Need shower, more coffee, more medicine. Funeral home tonight, 94 year old uncle died.

Online album's a good idea, I'll link it to my sig.

Actually, that would be better than several disjointed threads, Janel....maybe its time for "Binabox.com"

How do I get that? Besides, I don't know how to do webpages. I can barely update our club's website.

Your ISP probably offers free webspace with your account; if not, Geocities or Yahoo offers a certain amount for personal pages.

Photobucket.com offers free photo hosting, if that's what you're after. You can create different albums within one account.

If you have Frontpage, you can whip up a nice, basic webpage in a few minutes.

I've got them uploaded, now how do I make a link in my sig, besides the complete URL? Like a clickable, 'binabox?'

Binabox Restoration

Not bad - a little slow to load - but not bad

Not a lot of band width there.

Loaded just fine for me Janel. As usual, a fantastic job by yourself. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
