Neil Young

Got tickets monday to see Neil Young in December. Really looking forward to it. Saw him last month at Farm Aid ,but he played an abbreviated set. This show is to be both electric and acoustic and promises new and old material. As an added bonus its being held at a new venue. The United Palace Theatre. The Palace is a restored Loew's and looks spectacular. The theatre had fallen into disrepair over the years and was taken over,in the 70's by a flashy TV minister who called himself Reverend Ike. I believe he is still connected to it,but booking rock acts such as Young, Van Morrison and the Black Crows is a new venture.
As long as I'm on the subject of music, what are your thoughts on this year's nominees for induction into the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame?

Not sure about the hall of fame as I have not followed it but where is NY playing?

I love Neil Young, I've got tickets for 11-18 here.

As far as the Rock Hall, are you talking about this year's inductees -- Patti Smith, REM, The Ronettes, Van Halen and I forget who else (must not be very memorable, at least to me) I'm good with the others for sure.

OR, are you talking about the nominees for 2008 -- Madonna, Beastie Boys, Dave Clark Five, Leonard Cohen, Afrika Bambaataa, John Mellencamp, the Ventures, Donna Summer and Chic?

I was just at the Rock Hall a couple months ago. Wooo, great fun! I wondered then why John Mellencamp wasn't already inducted. ABOUT time there!

The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame is worthless. It has failed in its duty to preserve the history and culture of rock music. It ignores bands and people who have truly made an impact on the genre, and instead inducts pop groups, hip hop artists, and one-hit wonders, many of which are mere footnotes in comparison to others like Rush, Yes, Deep Purple, Iron Maiden, and Judas Priest. What a bloody joke.

~stands and applauds~

You're absolutely right. I know a lot of music, but there were people there that made me scratch my head. But all in all, overlooking what (in our opinion) shouldn't be there and wondering why some weren't there, the museum was a day well spent.

I live right down the street and I refuse to go. I get more music education watching VH1 Classic for heaven's sake, and it's cheaper too.

You live right down the street? And you didn't say HI to me when I was there 2 days?!?? Didn't wave at us sitting outside at Flannery's? Or when we were eating at Fat Fish Blue?

SHAME on you.

I live almost at the top of Fenn Tower at CSU. Ever since I moved in I'm turning into Howard Hughes, so the event of spotting me is unlikely. Jaybird, if you or anyone from BCF is visiting Cleveland, though, send me a PM and I'll take you to Rascal House pizza, if only for the fact that you don't own a bloody Corvette. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/devilgrin.gif

THAT is a deal, because I'm planning a return trip.

And I wouldn't be caught dead driving a Corvette. Flat out hate 'em.

If someone gave me a choice between a Corvette and suicide, I'd ask what flavor the Kool-Aid was.

I never really cared for Neil Young. Maybe I don't understand his music, but to me he always sounds like he has some sort of digestive impediment.

Here, here!

Saw:
Deep Purple - nonece
Priest - once
Iron Maiden - Once
Yes - Eight times
Rush - Nine times

Gotta love progressive rock.

Don't worry Basil, I won't hold it against ya. Do you by chance own any gold chains?

Sweet looking ride Basil!

Thanks, but I'd hate for anyone to commit suicide over it! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/jester.gif

Dying here...

Cam, you're killing me. Killing me.

I will admit to having a peculiar fondness for the pre-63 Corvette.
