Needo to install a very loud horn - freeway 'fun'

First of all, I am glad you are OK, Rick. I have tried to keep my Bugeye as original as possible. Safety takes importance over originality, however. I recently bought one of those compact air horns from Moss. I had to make a small bracket to fit the way I wanted in the original location, but this horn gives a suprisingly loud burst for such a small horn. No one will miss hearing this horn if I have to use it. And if I go to a car show, it takes me only a matter of minutes to swap out horns.

When I had my Fiat 850 Spider, I often felt invisible. I was wandering around a junk yard one day and I found a WW2 era klaxon horn from a submarine. Voltage was different, but my dad was able to calculate the resistor needed to make it work. Now that was a sound that got attention.

and that's my kind of junkyard! just how far from the ocean was it?

Well, up here (a bit north and west of you), some bozo has obtained a diesel locomotive air horn.
I KNOW what those sound like, this one sounds like a Nathan.
Gotta have an air compressor.....about 2330, you'll hear him out and about pulling the lanyard.

Now, THAT will get someone's attention right freaking now, makeup, cell phone, texting notwithstanding.

It couldn't have been far from me since I lived in Commack NY at the time. Only 15 miles to the water either way, but no subs stationed closer than Groton CN. Just a junkyard that sold scrap.

Some moron down the block from me now, has a train air horn he uses to let us all know he's drunk and out of control. Fortunately, he's drunk all the time but only rarely out of control. I have a scrapyard down here close enough that I visit regularly and you would not believe the items that show up, like wing tanks and 24" x 12 ft augers for moving grapes from wine making, more fun than a box of puppies.

You can drive with your lights on. Some have installed a 3rd brake light. I just assume they don't seem me and drive defensively.

I just avoid traffic like the plague.

Try a "Stebel" (google it) compact air horn. They're made for motorcycles, and 12V, so will fit in a car easily.

WARNING: it's loud as heck!

Also, I Always drive my LBCs with the headlamps on, do the same on my motorcycle. It definitely increases visibility, and safety.

Good luck, let us know . . . :yesnod:

My lights were on high beam and they are halogens.
I've aimed them down a bit so I can drive with them on high without any complaints from oncoming drivers. Bright as heck.
I need to check and make sure the side marker lights on that side are working, that could help a little.
Does anyone make super bright LED replacements for those side marker bulbs?
I'll look into the horns suggested here, I have personal experience with Pythis' horn, it is very loud.

Go fast so they can't catch me. Stay off of the interstates.
