OK...so I have some missing pieces for the support under the steering wheel where it connects to the dash. I can't find a good breakdown to identify all the parts. Anybody have extra parts they want to part with??
I think I may have a few extra parts. Let me know what you are looking for. If you check the parts manual I think you'll find pictures of it all with part numbers.
Going from memory, the lowest picture, the lowest bolt, was replaced with something a little more complicated to add support.
But those pictures look really nice. That's going to be a super TR3.
The bolt that goes through the bottom clamp extends towards the centre of the car, has a flat end with a hole in it and bolts to one of the two for and aft strips that steady the bottom of the dash and provide mounting points for the heater.
Yep that confirms what I was thinking....I have the big part that mounts to the firewall....but that is it. No brackets. I still can't find a good breakdown.
This is where the fun begins.
Later cars also had another bracket, just twisted flat steel with two holes, that ran from the other end of item 12 up to the underside of the dash. Not sure when it was introduced, but TS39781LO had it, TS13571L did not. Possibly at the same time as the split column.
Here is the brace that holds my steering column. It looks a bit different from the others shown above.
Am I right? -- The two clamps (or "brackets") and the bolt are not available from the standard suppliers anymore. If one needed to, can some other support bracket be substituted?
Yep it sure is. I am not sure with my Commission number which is correct for my car but something beats nothing....I need like 5,6,7,8,9,& 10 plus the piece the clamps around the column itself. Pm me if you have any of those and let me know what you want for them.
I am out of town for a few days, but will look through my stash of parts when I get back. -I also need to make sure I have all the parts I need to get mine together... I know I cleaned up a set and painted them, but I'm not sure exactly where they might be hiding.
If you don't hear from me by the weekend, PM or somehow remind me.
It was easy to find my 'spare' parts in a box marked 'spare parts'. But it took a while to find the ones I set aside to be used again. Some of them haven't been cleaned-up and painted yet...
So here is the extra bits I have -there are some parts I don't have that you will still need.
