Need to finish up some work I did yesterday but I cant quite make it to the garage. Whole area is swarming with them.

Can you determine what they're after?
 
A new home though it was odd they were on the ground like that. They are currently being boxed up and will go to a bee keeper later this afternoon. It was pretty interesting as you could get right next to the pile and they were completely docile.

Now if they were wasps there would of been a small mushroom cloud sitting over south pas.
 
Ouch. We got swarmed when our house was just built. Seems as though they were scouting for a new home. Local beekeeper brought a queen with him and they followed her and started a new hive. Don't really understand what he did but most of them just swarmed away. Those that were left were taken care of by husband who sprayed them with a dish washing liquid detergent/water mix. He was given this by the beekeeper.

Normally I'd unload a can or two of brake-clean on them, but honeybees are valuable. We've had them swarm in our wall before, and had a beekeeper come and get 'em out...
Wasps and hornets... Dead on sight!
I've never seen them just swarm on the ground like that. that's weird.
 
Did you spill some anti-freeze?

This is a great idea. I built a small parts shed next to the house shed and a swarm decided to take up residence under it. They look more like honey bee's than wasps so if they reappear this year, I'll see if there are any local bee keepers that might want to take a look.

I did have wasps living in the basement walls between the rock and block. Worked their way into a small hole in the window trim. Really creepy as the walls in the basement were buzzing with the sound. Freaked me out - I do not like bee's.
 
Friend just sailed to Aruba last weekend and had a swarm of bees take up residence on the boat halfway across. Really strange.
