TR6 need the carb mounting stud size for 1974 TR6

Can anybody help?
These seem to be a mish mash on my car, some even have metric size nuts.
What are these suppose to be. Would like stud length, thread per inch for both ends.
Thanks

Don't have one handy to check, but what I can come up with is : P/N 132873 (factory SPC) which Moss UK has cross-referenced to TE605141. And according to an old Moss UK catalog, TE605141 is 5/16" UNF at both ends and 1-3/4" long.

Not specified, but likely, is that the threads are unequal length, with the manifold side being perhaps only 3/8" and the carb side being longer.

I think that 1 3/4 length 5/16 fine thread I can confirm.

Cannot comment with assurance re thread length differences. From what I can see, there is
no difference.

Shouldn't matter, as long as the nut pulls up against the carb and not against the end of the threads.

Hello Randall,

I'm surprised, I would have expected U.N.C. for the manifold end of the stud? Still, it's a while since I removed any.

Me too, but I vaguely recall being surprised when I found fine threads in a GT6 manifold. And I'm just reporting what I found in the documentation, I don't actually have a TR6 to check. (Had a TR6 motor but gave it away.) The Stag studs are a different P/N and of course it's manifold is totally different, so that's no help.

So come on, all you TR6 owners out there. Pile in here and tell me I'm wrong !

I got these studs from TRF last year. Part number I bought was FHS2513. That's not the part number given in the blue book, but somewhere I found a list of part number supersession data (Rimmer Bros maybe?) and that's where the FHS number came from. They fit fine, though any 5/16 UNF x 1 5/8 inch long stud would probably do just as well.

Hope that helps
Alistair

Hello Hondo,

I take it you are not planning to remove the carburettors too often then? From an engineering point of view bolts in that application is an inferior set up.

Randall: No need to throw on the flak jacket on my
account.

Here's a picture. Threads are 5/16-24.

Well done, David! That's what I'm talking about.
BCF is good.....and only as good as its members.

Commendable work.

Thanks David
That looks like 1 and 3/4 inch long. Correct?
