Need some help identifying some E-Type parts please --

When I purchased this '70 Series II, it had previously been partially disassembled. As is often the case, the previous owner gave up and sold the car without re-installing all the parts, nor keeping a record of parts installed. I received a box of "parts" in the boot and have been able to ID all of them except these two shown in the pics. One looks like a damper door that is similar to the one in the heater box, but not quite the same size. The other looks like a housing or bracket. Both were pretty corroded, so I cleaned them up and painted them.

I'm not even sure they came off this car, but since they were in a box marked "XKE-Parts", I'm sure the previous owner had a use for them. Any help would be appreciated -- thanks for your help.

The lower one is the oil filter access panel that fits onto your right hand (intake) side lower splash guard that fits onto the engine frames from below. The top one is also a slash guard or air flow panel that fits onto the engine frames near the front air intake. Not certain of the placement because I have a series 1 car which didn't use this shield.

Thank you John -- that makes perfect sense, since these parts were in a box filled with frame clamps, brackets, and splash and heat shields that were never re-installed.

The other piece is the vertical splash guard that is in the area forward of and below the carbs. The scooped cutout is to clear the front side of the oil filter, the large hole provides access to the rear castellated nut on the upper fulcrum shaft of the passenger side A arm.

Okay, found a pic of mine with that shield in place. It is just to the right of the motor mount in this photo:
