Hi Everyone,
I need some advice. I have a 1967 BJ8 with an overhaul motor, which was done a year and half ago. The motor has 2300 miles on since rebuild. I'm getting some condensation on the valve cover cap every time I drive and it is turning into a emulsion on longer drives. I getting white smoke on startup also notice some water dripping out on one the exhaust pipe, but it only last for about 30 seconds. Is this normal? I have no coolant lost in the radiator. What do you recommend I do? My first thought is to re-torque the head bolts. The manual recommend 75, is it okay to do 80 or 85? I guess if that doesn't work I will remove the head and go for there. What do you guys recommend. I hear there is quite a difference in head gaskets is there any recommendations that you would advice in terms of thickness(copper or steel)?
Best,
David
