Need Pushrods for Pre-71 engine

I have never had a problem with the side split rods. For a street engine they are fine. Has enyone reading this had a problem with them? I actually drive my MGB's....Hard. Most of them are side split rod cars. 3 main and early 5 main cars! I am guessing he has pistons already and needs rods that take the circlips. Did 70 or 71 run straight rods with circlips? Bob PM sent

I'm not crazy about angled rod, but it more form amchinist standponit, with parting ends on those rods, same as early A-series 948/1098s as well sizing the big end becomes a compromise, as you can only cut one side of the parting line when resizing, add to that the angled rods are the heaviest of the bunch, 5 main angled rods weight almost a 1000 grams, a 100 grams more than the later straight flaoting rods, and around 125-140 grams more than the later 18V press fit rod. Are the ok, will they run ok in a motor sure, but they would be my last choice in performacne motor, but it's not like have a reputaton for fialure of anyhting.

I'm working with a set of straight flaoting pin rods right now, for SCCA limited prep engine rule, which state you must run a stock rod, but can lighten and polish them, they started life at 884 gram, you know those rods have huge balancing pad on both the big and small ends, right now, everything is done and they end up being about 740 grams. I like floating rods, so this is my favortite rod to work with and trick out, but all the MGB rods are solid , actually vewry heavey duty units, because of the samll bore long stroke recipe of most British engines, the rods are heavey as all get out, but very strong, you don't hear of rod faliures with these engines, amybe the every once in a blue moon rod bolt faliure, but not rod failures.

From a PM it looks like he is looking for a set of 18V rods. NOT pre 71. If you have a set of late rods maybe you can help Kev. Bob

I've got 18V rods out of the caboodle!

Good deal make sure you get some good chilled iron lifter now, APT CF-10 or CF-4s would be my recommendation, it's money well spent. Also break the cam with a good ZDDP enriched oil or a good ZDDP additive like ZDDPlus.
