TR2/3/3A Need proper set up on choke cable TR3A

For some reason pages 81 to 91 in Haynes manual are missing.. I just replaced both jet levers on the carbs and the nut on the back of the choke cable. It was striped and surprisingly a 1/2 NF nut fit and really snugged that baby up.

I need to know how to properly set the choke cable. I did the best i could and could only get the cable out enough to bump the idle. Two hands couldn't budge it any farther.

I'm going to post this last paragraph on another earlier posting too about the Grose jets. TR3drivers post did not reach me in time and I had already ordered them. I took one of the posters advise and soked one of the Grose jets in carb cleaner. (for now I'm only replacing the rear one). Then blow it out with the aerosol cleaner and you should have seen the very fine machine filings that came out of the jet. At the bottom of the cap it looked like I was panning for gold. I could possibly see why someone could have problems with these jets if they were installed without cleaning. The filings would keep the small ball from seating. Keep your fingers crossed for me.

Also work the (disconnected) levers one at a time to see if one of the jets is binding.

I think the idea is that pulling the cable a little bit opens the butterfly, pulling it a bit more lowers the jet.

Thanks and I did all of that and it seams to be working quite well now. The polishing the jets was a big help. The rear one was the tightest. Had to polish it several time to get it to work smoothly. It may have been a little over sized too. Sunday will be the maiden voyage after repairs and the installation of the Grose jets.
