Hello everyone,

I could use some help. I need some advice on what grade of oil goes in the transmission and rear end of my 65' Midget? It has the 1098 motor. I'm about to get the car going for the first time, and wasn't sure if about these fluids. I did see some gearbox oil on the moss motors site, but wasn't sure, thanks

20W50 Motor oil in the transmission
Gear oil in the rear diff.

Transmission takes engine oil 10-40 or 20-50 is recommended. Most places jusst say use the same stuff in the tranny that you use in the engine. I use 20-50 in mine. The rear end takes GL-4 gear oil, 90 wt for summer and 80 wt for winter if you change. Some people say they use GL-5 in the rear end, but I have also heard and read a lot of people who do not recommend it in older cars... I have old GL-4 around, so use it.

I see Trevor already answered while I was slooooooooly typing.

Yes ... but I'm always light on details.

You always get your point across
