What I would call the center bolt in the 1/4 leaf spring.
It is at the end of the stack where it mounts in frame of car.

When trying to take apart leaf springs for a rebuild. I attempt to loosen the nut on the center pin but it spins so I cann't remove the nut from pin. I tried to hold the round end with the vise grips, but of course vise grips will not hold pin and it spins off, I was afraid also of doing damage to center pin head.

Also I have remove spring hanger/brackets nut, bolt and sleeve, but the hanger bracket seems attached to spring? how do you remove these. Will they come out once I remove the center bolt previously mentioned?

In the next couple of hours I will go out to my shop and see what I see. I have one side completely disassembled, cleaned, and ready to put back together. The other side is still assembled. I will also look at the Moss illustrarion.

I just made a quick look and it does come out. Because of the small head on the bottom of the bolt, if I remember right it was difficult. If all else fails you could grind off the head then knock it out. Then you would have to fabricate another or buy something close. You could grind the new bolt haead to look like the original it that is important. I do not think they are available.

Grinding crossed my mind, that is how I had to remove the small shackle bolts. The end of studs had become bulbed and would not unscrew after 1 1/2 turnes.

So once I remove the center pin, the leaf spring will come apart. or do I need to find a press and compress spring to remove?

Should fall apart. Those countersunk bolts that run cross way needed to be destroyed, so I clan to go to my local ACE find equivs. and replace alonw with the spacers. Something should be easy to find. But must wait untill tomorow as it is time for some football.
