See the angle of the part of the bumper brace that touches the car? I am pointing to it in the third picture. Do I have the correct brace on the correct side? I think it makes more sense for the angle of the brace to be the opposite way so it fits more flush. But according to the Moss picture (the last picture) it looks like I have it right. The second picture really shows how the angle of the brace would "dig into" the car so I think I have the wrong one on the wrong side. The repair manual is no help at all.

You have it backwards. Swap out the braces (both pieces), rubber is correct. The straight edge of the brace goes to the inside. The insert is showing left side but on the right side of the bumper.
