need advice -- what car to get?

I have to pull a pitch for the TR7 as well -- comfortable, roomy, and less expensive to acquire and repair. Definitely a marked improvement for roominess over the GT6+ I had once.

I do agree with what's already been said also -- it depends on what you wanna do with it. I love to go out and tinker on the Lotus or Triumph. It's stress relieving for me to work on them and fix them up myself. If that's not your style, then take advantage of someone else's restoration.

And welcome to the forum!

Several opinions here. I can't advise a pre-1500 Spitfire if you want to do any traveling. My Mk I Spit is misery on open roads after about 30 minutes and it has OD. Great around town though. I have no experience with the 1500s though.

A rubber bumper B and a TR-7 (later 5 speed) would both be good choices. And you can get one for $3500.

I would avoid a 4A with IRS.

Always buy the best car you can find. Fixer uppers can be money pits, especially if someone else is doing the work. I did all the work on my car except machining the block and have $7000+ in it and its still not finished. It was however a cheap, non-running rust bucket.
