Need a photo of a unmolested dash. 58/59 bugeye.

Re: Need a picture of a unmolested dash.

Of course if you want a picture of what your dash should look like the owners/workshop manual shows pictures of both left and right hand drive cars.

Now that I'm having fun uploading images, here is a scan from the shop manual. Right-hand drive, of course, but the LHD is just the mirror image.

Re: Need a picture of a unmolested dash.

Sorry, spoke too fast. The choke and starter should be interchanged, as should the heater and wiper. Then flip it and you have the RHD.

Re: Need a picture of a unmolested dash.

Nice dash Jeff! Ours had the radio hole butchered badly. I cut it out larger than the stock size and used my new spot welder to attach a blankout plate. I'm going to use POR 15 on both sides now before recovering.

Thanks for posting the diagram Steve. I saved a copy. I hope I remember about the left right switch difference when I start installing stuff.

Re: Need a picture of a unmolested dash.

The starter more or less has to be on the right whether it's LHD or RHD, and similarly the choke more or less has to be on the left.

The alternatives would be extra long bowden-cable lengths, crossing over under the bonnet, which would cause lots of problems.

Re: Need a picture of a unmolested dash.

On my car (LHD), the washer and heater switches are in the same place as they are in that diagram. Actually, 1, 2, 3, 5, 11, 12 from that picture are all in that same location. Don't know if that is normal, but I'd certainly believe that that is original to the car.
