Necessary step

Although I knew it was coming, I was still surprised and shocked when I saw how dusty my pretty and clean rolling chassis has become as a result of the body work......Dust everywhere. I know this is part of what has to happen, but you never see this stage on the TV restoration programs.
The good news is the panels will be removed for paint next week and I will have the frame home where I can give it a good clean one more time before mounting the body for good. 27 months of having so much fun. Looking forward to the reassembly.

Batteries would go dead from so much dust while in body shop

Fortunately the battery is in my garage and the total time in the body shop is one month.

And then one day you find yourself over the hump and you start putting it together, good for you !

Feel your pain. I have the tub painted all pretty. Putting suspension under next. Would like to install engine and trans after making it roll but think I'm going to do the body next. Hate to dirty up engine after it being rebuilt.

Marvin, I think if I had it to do over, I might take your approach and have the bodywork done before installing the engine/transmission, wiring harness, heater, brake lines etc. Then remove the panels, clean the tub, install everything and refit the painted panels. But I'm pretty sure this will be the last restoration on my schedule....just drive and maintain from here on out.
I am very aware that this obsession with cleanliness will fade as the miles roll by and I settle in to just enjoying driving the car.
