THIS just appeared on ebay. Right down the road from me. In fact, we moved here from McMinnville several years ago. Don't recognize the car, though.

Looks like it has potential...

...but alas, not for me at the moment. :frown:
 
Yeah, it do. But the quantity in my wallet has no quality whatsoever!
 
If that were a unibody car, it would be totaled.
 
I would be suspect of the frame being "crinkled" from a hit like that... just my oppinion.
 
I notice that the boot lid is open. I wonder if it will close properly. My experience with any TR hit that badly is that most damage is actually "unseen"!!!
 
Looks to me that the car was repainted <span style="font-weight: bold">BEFORE</span> the hit, as the back valence is not painted flat black. So who knows what went on before. Besides, it has those Webers on there that I hate!
 
I think it will get pretty good money just for the parts, and there appears to be quite a few good parts there for a valiant rebuild or perhaps to combine with a better tub/frame. I always liked the fold down headrests on the 69. Does anyone know what brand wheels those are?
 
It looks like whatever he hit was above the frame and it pushed that left front fender almost straight up. The front suspension isn't at screwed up as you'd think it would be with that kind of damage. The right side of the car almost looks normal with nice panel spacing around the passenger door. And both doors still open and close. The windshield must have popped out but the steering wheel doesn't look all bent out of shape. Anyone know what he hit?
 
PARTS CAR. Looks like the shock from the hit went to the right side of the car. The door and trunk lid don't fit. Also the rear shot of the car seems to be off. And who wants a car with a salvage title?
 
I'll give it a shot. I have enough parts to put it back together. Need another project like another hole in the head but what the heck. Its an addiction.

Bob, I'm with you, except for that steering wheel. It looks pretty distorted to me. I'm thinking that it may have taken some hit from the poor driver and possibly the whole column was then driven upwards, which might explain the damage to the dashboard. It's also possible that some of that column movement was transferred from the frontal impact.

Beyond that, though, and the fact that I'd certainly want to measure up (and probably square up) both body and chassis somewhat, it looks salvageable at the right price. But there's really no way to tell without a thorough, hands-on inspection.

(Actually the damage doesn't appear any worse than similar damage I inflicted on my first Herald convertible, when I ran it into the back of a Rambler station wagon in 1970. On that car, I obviously had to replace the entire one-piece bonnet and straighten the very front extensions of the chassis. And that straightening weakened the frontmost crosstube, so that got renewed. Oh, and I also had to put a new windshield in, thanks to my sister's forehead. We both wore seatbelts religiously from that point on! But the car was then fine for another couple years. I'm not sure the Rambler wagon fared as well: that little Herald did quite a number on the tailgate area of that Rambler!)

Not me, I decided I would let someone else tackle that one. I have a TR3 in a zillion pieces right now. Better stay in track with it for now.
