National B clubs

&, around here, they don't want to talk with you till you've run in at least 2 club sponsored events but don't want to take the time to get to know you or to help you so you can participate in 2 club events! &, don't come out in a car they don't consider worthy!

I think you'll have a worthy car Tony

Me I'm not worried about...younger guys who I want to get off street racing & onto SCCA events or the local drag strip they don't want to mess with...&, there are some guys with stock MG's they don't like ot mess with...if its not 'purpose' they kinda turn their noses!

but my local drag strip is very newbie friendly. they don't laugh too hard at ricers and they all want to race the new guy. brackets racing every Saturday night and possibly some free test and tune time for a certain GRM entrant. I may even be able to find a ringer driver with a decent reaction time.

as does our local drag strip...wonder why they're so involved with the younger kids & the old organizations aren't?

I don't get that attitude!!! It is real ignorant, but you know what?? I really couldn't care less about how people like that look at me, and I'd be darned if I would join their club or support it in any way!! The only time I worry about what people think is when I know I have been in the wrong!! (I do do that occasionally, ask Tony

) Anyway, my advice would be, just go out and enjoy if that is what you want to do!! If they don't like it, screw 'em!!!! The rules I live my life by are honesty and integrity, if people don't apppreciate my trying at anything, that is their problem!!!! AND...... I hope I make their life miserable disliking me!!

FWIW, I'm a member of both organizations. I agree that the NAMGBR has a far superior publication, but for $25 bucks or so per year for each I figure why not join both. Heck, I pay the USGA $25 per year to be a member just so I'll get their "Golf Journal" magazine - and they don't even give me a dash plaque! As few dedicated MGB publications as there are, I'd like to see even the not-so-good ones continue.

Oh, I forgot - it DID take me about 6 months after I mailed the check to get the new member packet, etc., from NAMBGR. Maybe they just had to do a background check on me and Chuck. Maybe not - I most likely would have failed...

I finally got in but Kim had to vouch for me. Got my packet yesterday along with all the MGB Drivers i had missed

Glad to hear that you finally got the stuff, Chuck. This is the problem with volunteer organizations. There can be 4,000 members, but it still relies on a very small group of volunteers to keep things running right. And then all it takes is for one person to screw up, or have a major personal health problem or something, and the whole thing goes down the drain in terms of getting things done.
