NATC 2011 Breckenridge Colorado

Were you trying to put a TR6 Trans into your GT6? The TR6 trans is actually pretty stout. The GT6 on the other hand, a little on the weak side for even a stock engine, especially if it had a hard life.

The car had the TR6 motor in when i bought it, probably put in before i was even born. Atleast a GT6 motor works in a GT6 and it doesn't wear out the pressure plate on it's own.

Considering the primary difference between the two engines is 3/4 of an inch more stroke on the TR6 engine, any inherent weakness in one would tend to be present in the other.

Is the trans actually a TR6 trans? The GT6 trans will bolt right up to a TR6 engine. At most the rear engine plate would need to be re-drilled but that would be it. I've seen it done with little more than that anyway.

Yep the tranny is from a TR6. I do have a spare GT6 tranny laying around i might throw on it, but thats if i also have a GT6 drive shaft. I do believe the tr6 drive shaft is shorter.
