I think it is here to stay for a bit longer, as there was talk that they were going to stop producing it due to its age, but it seems like a higher authority intervened and it's here to stay for a bit longer! Pilots love it, enemies hate it, and she is one mean machine!(y)
 
Between the firepower and survivability of those beasts, there really is nothing else that can fill the same role as effectively.
 
Whenever I see something about these,I think of the Holly Hunter line
in "Raising Arizona" - "Give me that baby,you Warthog from heck".
