I got finally check off one of the high-priority items on my "would-love-to-do" checklist last week - we finally got to visit Nashville! I'd been to Tennessee on business several times but never was able to spend any "quality" time there. Just out of the blue I was invited to give a short presentation to a group meeting at the Opryland hotel and we decided to use that as an excuse to stay a while. We stayed there for the week - it's an amazing place. Biggest hotel I've ever seen (about 2900 rooms, huge atriums, etc) and only about 20 minutes to the town itself.
I've always wanted to see the Grand Ole Opry at the Ryman and we did this last Friday night. It was worth the wait. Also spent 2 evenings bar hopping and listening to some great music and meeting lots of friendly folks. Ernest Tubb's record store was fabulous and I was surprised to see a Margaritaville nearby. Had one of their cheeseburgers naturally. Saw Texas Red on a riverboat, too.
If you've never been there, you gotta see this place.
We left lots of tourist dollars there, drank too much, ate too much, but it was worth every cent. Is this a great country or what?
