Our closest friends lost their daughter yesterday to cancer. Age 50. She was like another daughter to us, too. Her mother has been deeply involved in the NAMI Family to Family program in VT (as Basil is in NM) and that experience is what kept her going and dealing as she helped care for her daughter. It not only helped her, but she knew what to say and do for the rest of the close family. Anytime you get the chance, and can afford to make a donation to NAMI, please do.

Man, so sorry to hear that. I thought NAMI was for mental illness not cancer. What am I missing?

It is. She has dealt with the attempted and successful suicide component of bi-polar
mental illness; grief consoling, etc. Helping families deal has helped her deal. She has a bi-polar son (Annapolis Academy grad) that prompted her involvement. He lives in HI, which is a fur piece from VT. Viewings tomorrow & service Wed. I am supposed to read something; will probably not be able to keep a stiff upper lip.
