I found this in the toolbox of my TD and haven't a clue as to what it is.
Any ideas?

Looks like a combo of a slide hammer and a nail puller.

Maybe a hot rivet puller... looks like you can use leverage to both get a grip, and pull at the same time. The thick part might be beefed up so it can be whacked with a hammer to get the pull started.

Yes I thought it was some kinda slide hammer or sorts. Just hoping that someone might know exactly what it is.
 
WE used to use them for opening packing crates that were nailed closed. You put the claw on each side of the nail head and drive it into the wood with the slide and then lever it out. They do a good job
 
Interesting! My first Bugeye came from Jamestown , N.Y. too!! Getting stuff done to it was like pulling nails!
